Innovation meets quality of life

Centrally located in the town of Cham in the "Oberpfalz" in Bavaria, directly on the River Regen, our campus offers an ideal environment for research, development and technology transfer. The region is characterised by a strong industrial base, a high quality of life and excellent infrastructure. Its proximity to the Czech border enables close cooperation, for example with the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, and promotes international research projects. In addition to the Technology Transfer Centre for Intelligent Robotics, the Campus Cham has also been home to the Technology Transfer Centre for Intelligent Production since 2010, which is an attractive partner for all topics related to mobile and stationary robotics. With one bachelor's and four master's degree programmes directly at the Cham location, we benefit from the close connection between theory and practice.

Our aim is to develop adaptive and safe robot systems that respond flexibly to changing requirements – from industrial production to assistive robotics in healthcare.

The Technology Campus Cham – Intelligent Robotics is embedded in a dynamic innovation ecosystem. Its proximity to industry and the start-up scene creates ideal conditions for technology transfer, cooperation projects and practical research.

1. Robotics & automation

We develop intelligent manipulation strategies and adaptive robot systems for collaborative and industrial applications. Our solutions range from mobile robots to AI-supported gripping technologies – for future-oriented, flexible automation.

2. Sensors & Control

By using state-of-the-art sensor technology (e.g. 3D lidar, cameras, gripping sensors) and technologies such as SLAM, VR/AR and photogrammetry, we enable precise environmental perception and dynamic control of robotic systems.

3. Artificial intelligence in robotics

We design AI-based methods for object recognition, trajectory planning and decision-making. With cognitive robotics and reinforcement learning, we create systems that continuously evolve.

4. Human-robot interaction

Our research focuses on intuitive interfaces and safe interaction concepts. The focus is on humans – as active partners in collaboration with robots.

5. Digital twins & simulation

Virtual models enable the simulation of complex scenarios, process optimisation and risk-free testing. VR/AR technologies support development, training and interaction.
