Flying to Munich airport:

Deggendorf is 110 km away from Munich airport and takes around 2 hours to reach when travelling by public transport.

By bus:

  • Duration: approx. 2 hours from MUC
  • Buses from the company Flixbus and Postbus offer a direct connection between Munich airport (Terminal 2 - Terminalstraße Ost) and Deggendorf railway station
  • Berlinlinienbus Bus Company travels between Deggendorf and a range of other airports, such as Frankfurt and Berlin as well as Munich airport
  • Please check the availability online and reserve your bus ride in advance to make sure that the desired connection won't be fully booked
  • The campus and student town centre accommodation is max. 20 mins walk from Deggendorf bus station

By train:

  • Duration: approx. 2 hours from MUC
  • Exit the airport and wait for the arrival of bus #635 to Freising, it arrives approximately every 20 minutes. Purchase a ticket from the driver
  • Once you have boarded the correct bus, remain on it until Freising train station (this is the last stop for bus #635). The train station in Freising is located very close to the bus stop, approximately 30 metres. At the train station (or at a Deutsche Bahn-DB ticket machine at the airport) purchase a Bayern Ticket, as it's the cheapest
  • In the train station look at the display panels for current train information such as departure times and platforms. You must take the train to Passau, this train usually departs from platform 4. If you are not sure just ask, also in English
  • At this point, you should be on the train to Passau. Your stop is Plattling (approx. 1 hour from Freising)
  • At Plattling, change the train. A green train (Bayrische Waldbahn) usually departs from platform 5 or 8. This train takes you directly to Deggendorf (only 2 stops, roughly 10 minutes)
  • The campus and student town centre accommodation is max. 20 mins walk from Deggendorf train station

If your flight arrives very early or very late, it is recommended to check the travel schedule at www.bahn.de.

 

 

There are fast and efficient motorways directly to Deggendorf from all directions. Here's the motorways to use:

The campus in Pfarrkirchen can be reached from the railway station in less than five minutes by bike. Bicycles can be taken on the train free of charge on the Mühldorf - Passau line.

The campus is certified as a bicycle-friendly employer and has sufficient bicycle parking spaces, as well as a repair station. You can find more information here.

Pfarrkirchen's city centre is also just a few minutes away by bike.

  • MUC or NUE: Cham is 150 km from Munich or Nuremberg airports and takes around 3 hours to reach when travelling by public transport

By train:

  • The main campus in Badestraße is around a 20 min walk from Cham train station

  • B 85 from Schwandorf or Regen
  • B 22 from Weiden

The main campus in Badstraße is 1,3 km, or a 15 min walk, from the campus in Dr.-Muggenthaler-Straße.

  • A covered carpark, Parkhaus am Schulberg, Katzberger Straße 1, 93413 Cham, is located opposite Dr.-Muggenthaler-Straße. More information can be viewed online at www.stadtwerkecham.de/parkhaeuser/parkdeck-am-schulberg.html.
  • Additionally, there is an open carpark in Dr. Muggenthaler Straße opposite the "Agentur für Arbeit Cham".
