Vita

Prof. Patrick Ristau, Ph.D., M.A., M.Sc. brings extensive expertise in direct patient care as a paramedic and instructor, as well as proven teaching and management experience at vocational schools for emergency medical staff.

His academic journey started at the Protestant University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt, where he studied Nursing and Health Promotion (B.A.) and Nursing Science (M.A.), and then continued at the University of Witten/Herdecke, where he earned his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree with a cumulative dissertation on the diagnosis experience and coping behaviour of people with pancreatic cancer. At the same time, Prof. Ristau completed another master's degree in public health at Jade University in Oldenburg, graduating with an M.Sc.

Prof. Ristau brings comprehensive knowledge of health system and healthcare research to the THD, which he deepened during his work as scientific coordinator of the German Resuscitation Registry and as a postdoctoral researcher in the field of nursing research and teaching at the Institute for Social Medicine and Epidemiology at the Universität zu Lübeck.

Besides his work at DIT, Prof. Ristau is an instructor and instructor trainer for emergency medical courses and serves as a juror for the Stiftung Begabtenförderung berufliche Bildung gGmbH, which provided him with a scholarship during his studies.

In his free time, Patrick Ristau loves hiking through the Bavarian Forest, sailing with his wife along the coasts of Europe, or motorboating on the Mecklenburg Lake District or through the Dutch canals and waterways. He is also passionate about the Spanish language and culture.
